Vivek Agnihotri release his movie “The Kashmir Files“ on 11th March 2022. The film and the trailer have caught the attention and trade expects that it has the potential to emerge as a sleeper hit, just The Tashkent Files (2019).
The film is base on the Kashmiri Pandits’ persecution, has passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an adults-only certificate.
The film has got 7 cuts.
- A visual of the Indian national flag falling on the ground was ask to be remove.
- The photo of an ex-Prime Minister of India in a dread terrorist’s house was delete.
- The logo of a television channel was remove while the word ‘rape’ was blur as seen on a university floor and wall poster at three places.
- The word ‘Disco CM’ was axe and the words ‘Pandit’ and ‘Hindu’ were delete wherever these terms were associate with cuss words.
- The name of the university, shown in the film, has change from JNU to ANU.
Writer-director Vivek Agnihotri told that the examining committee of the CBFC had initially ask for a long list of cuts and that he had to fight it out.

Vivek Agnihotri said that this whole process of convincing the CBFC members took around two months.
The makers of The Kashmir Files were given over the censor certificate on 3rd November, 2021.
The final duration of the The Kashmir Files is 170 minutes, that is, 2 hours and 50 minutes.
The Kashmir Files stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi and Puneet Issar.
