Flying cars and flying bikes are expect to be the future of transportation. AERWINS Technologies, the makers of the hoverbike say that the birth of Xturismo is the beginning of a new journey into the future of transportation.
AERWINS Technologies made its debut in the United States at the Detroit Auto Show.
As the world’s first flying bike, the hoverbike drew sharp comparisons to the bikes of the popular Star Wars.
The Aerwins Xturismo hoverbike flies above the ground using multiple propellers in what seems to draw inspiration from the design of a quad-copter with extra propellers.
Co-chair of the Detroit Auto Show, Thad Szott, who took the bike for a test flight, said that the experience of riding a hoverbike was “comfortable” and “exhilarating” and felt like it was something straight out of a sci-fi movie.

“I feel like I’m literally 15 years old and I just got out of ‘Star Wars’ and jumped on their bike,”.
Future of Urban Mobility
The XTurismo is commonly describe as the future of urban mobility, a possible platform for the ideal vehicle with various features.
Aerwins Xturismo hoverbike was officially exhibited as a viable product in October 2021 and then unveiled to the general public in a flying demo in Japan.
Aerwins Xturismo hoverbike has two big propellers in the front and the rear end support by four small ones, two on each end.
The primary propellers are use to provide the necessary lift for the hoverbike, while the small ones act as a stabilizer.
As of now, the 200 Limited-Edition XTurismos will be deliver in 2022, after which mass production will begin when costs decrease.
By the time this flying bike reaches that point, VTOL laws and regulations will have caught up.
Price of Aerwins Xturismo hoverbike
This hoverbike comes with price of $777,000 which is more then 6 crore INR.
AERWINS founder said that the company is trying to cut down the cost to $50,000 for a smaller, electric model but it will take 2-3 years and will be ready by 2025.
In Japan, the Aerwins Xturismo hoverbike is already on sale.
Features of Aerwins Xturismo hoverbike
The propellers in the hoverbike are power by an internal combustion engine aided by a battery.
The noise of the power source combine with the propellers makes the hoverbike very loud, but the company hopes to bring down the decibels on it in the future.
The Aerwins XTurismo is 3.7 metres (146 inches) long, 2.4 metres (94.5 inches) broad, and 1.5 metres (59 inches) tall.
Aerwins Xturismo hoverbike can travel at a maximum speed of 60 mph (97 kph) for up to 30 to 40 minutes in the air.
The Aerwins Xturismo hoverbike itself weighs 300 kg (661 pounds), credit to all the carbon fiber material used in the body and can carry up to 100 kg of payload (220.5 pounds).
The Aerwins Xturismo hoverbike can fly for 40 minutes with a speed limit of up to 100 kph (62 miles per hour).
According to the founder and CEO of AERWINS, Shuhei Komatsu, the company is planning to sell a smaller version in the US in 2023.
