      History

      In India Holi is a national festival, with various regional holidays.

      Holi’s origins can be trace back to Hindu mythology, particularly the fame fable of Hiranyakashyap, a demon king who desire immortality.

      Hiranyakashyap desire that everyone worship him, but his own son, Prahlad, prefer to worship Lord Vishnu.

      It enraged him, so the Hiranyakashyap summon his sister Holika, who was impervious to fire, to join Prahlad in the flames.

      When Holika said anything about the fire with Prahlad, the fire couldn’t reach him.

      Holika was slain as a result of it.

      The Hiranyakashyap was then kill by Lord Vishnu.

      Holi Significance

      An ancient Hindu celebration that grew in popularity among non-Hindus as well.

      After a long winter, Holi marks the approach of spring.

      It commemorates the triumph of good over evil and is observe as a day of joy and love.

      The celebration is also a time to express gratitude for a successful crop.
