      Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan Launched in India

      Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan Launched in India. Honda introduce its latest hybrid powertrain on the fifth-gen City sedan. Honda’s self-charging hybrid system in the City employs a petrol engine, two electric motors and a battery.

      President and CEO of Honda Cars India Takuya Tsumura said that the introduction of the model marks the start of the company’s journey towards the introduction of new-age electrified models in the country.

      Takuya Tsumura Said :

      “We are committing to electric vehicles and towards carbon neutrality by 2050 globally. That is the company’s direction..In India we are starting with Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan and of course base on Honda’s direction we will see what is the best solution we can bring to the market here,”.

      “The Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan is a result of our consistent commitment to offer a product having reliable data with latest safety measures and which meets the environmental challenges of the future,”.

      “The model is also in sync with the vision laid out by Honda global to realise carbon neutrality and zero collision fatalities by 2050”.

      “We are all well aware of the environmental challenges of global warming and emissions. As a socially responsible enterprise, Honda is striving to sell two thirds of its global sales through electrified models, like hybrid fuel cell vehicles and battery electric vehicles by 2030,”.

      “And by 2040, the company aims to achieve 100% transition to EVs and fuel cell vehicles globally”.

      “The government of India is also focus upon environmental and safety issues associated with mobility. And it brings us great joy and satisfaction to introduce the company’s innovative products that contribute to this direction. We hold the firm belief that technology is for people and we have develop engine and mobility solutions that are design to be beneficial for everyone,”.

      “In order to offer advanced electrification products in India, the company is please to introduce the technology for Indian customers that uses energy more effectively while making everyone’s daily lives more enjoyable”.

      “At the heart of the Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan, we have a self charging highly efficient modern sports hybrid system, which offers a rare combination of accelerating driving experience as well as very low emission levels”.

      “The fuel economy of the locally produce model is 40% to 45% higher than the petrol versions”.

      Takuya Tsumura said that the auto major aims to introduce the Honda Sensing technology in all future new model launches in India.

      Takuya Tsumura Said :

      “The Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan, a self-charging hybrid electric car, will certainly prove to be a game changer, as it does not require a separate charging infrastructure nor does it suffer from range issues”.

      Price in India

      Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan is expect a price tag of about Rs 18.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

      Honda is offering the City Hybrid with a standard 3-year/ unlimited km warranty and even an 8-year warranty on its battery pack.

      Extended warranty options are 5-year/ unlimited km or a 10-year/ 1.2 lakh km.

      Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan bookings are underway, and will be going on sale in May.

      Mechanical Specifications

      Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan engine is a 1.5-litre unit tuned to an output of 98PS and the motor that drives the wheels has a peak rating of 109PS.

      The Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan onboard systems manage the use of the engine and the battery to drive the wheels with achieve peak efficiency.

      This system also allows the Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan to operate in pure EV mode for short distances and at slow speeds.

      Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 26.5kmpl.

      The Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan variant is offer in a single RS trim, which gets sportier aesthetics for the exterior and an all-black cabin, in Thailand.

      Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan exterior changes have carry through to the India-spec model, except for the blue exterior paint option, and it is simply badge as the “City e:HEV” base on the top-spec ZX trim.

      The Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan also retains the beige and black dual-tone cabin theme of the regular City variants.

      There is also a variant that is equip with Honda’s suite of ADAS features call as Sensing.

      Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan packs features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and auto high-beam.

      The Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan already comes with a lane watch camera, which uses a camera mount under the left outside rearview mirror that helps the driver with their blind spots.

      Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan features include a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch display, six airbags, leather upholstery, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. 

      The model would also come with various safety features including a high-performance front camera with a wide-angle, far-reaching detection system to scan the road ahead and alert the driver to minimise risk of accidents and in some cases intervene to avoid a collision or lessen its severity.

      The Honda Sensing safety features include collision mitigation braking system (CMBS), adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation (RDM), lane keeping assist system (LKAS) and auto high-beam.

      The Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Electric Sedan also comes equip with 37 connected features which now work with smart watch devices in addition to already existing integration with Alexa and OK Google.

      This model would be produce at the company’s manufacturing facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan.
