As we know 5G services are rolling out across India by Jio and Airtel, users can expect faster and smoother internet access. The fifth generation mobile network boasts speeds that are 20-30 times higher than 4G LTE and also said to offer better network service.
But, even with 5G, it’s still possible to experience slow internet speeds.
If you’re also finding that your mobile data is slowing down, there are a few things you can do to boost your speed.
Check Network Connection
Make sure that you’re connect with a 5G network.
You can do this by opening the Settings app on your phone and going to Cellular.
Under Cellular Data, you should see a list of networks that your phone is connected to.
If 5G is listed, then you’re good to go.
Restart Phone
A simple restart can fix a variety of problems, including slow internet speeds.
To restart your phone, hold down the power button until you see the power off slider.
Slide the power off slider to the right, and then wait a few seconds before turning your phone back on.
Force Close Apps
If you have a lot of apps open in the background, they can be using up your data and slowing down your connection.
To force close apps, open the App Switcher and double-click the home button on an iPhone or swipe up from the bottom of the screen on an Android phone.
Swipe up on any apps that you don’t want to be running in the background.
Clear Cache
Your phone’s cache stores data from websites and apps that you’ve visited recently.
This can help to speed up loading times, but it can also take up space and slow down your phone.
To clear your cache
- Open the Settings app
- Go to General
- Then go to Storage & iCloud Usage
- Tap Manage Storage.
- Then tap on the app that you want to clear the cache for
- Lastly tap on Clear Cache.
Update Software
Your phone’s software is constantly being updated with new features and bug fixes.
If you’re not running the latest version of software, it’s possible that you’re experiencing slow internet speeds due to a bug.
To check for updates
- Open the Settings app
- Go to General
- Then go to Software Update.
- If an update is available, tap on Download and Install.
Switch on and off Airplane Mode
Turn on Airplane mode and then turn it off again.
This can help to reset your network connection and improve your speed.
