      How to Update iPhone Software

      Apple rolls out a many software update every year at the Worldwide Developers conference (WWDC). The annual iOS update often brings along UI enhancements, new features, and a slew of bug fixes.

      And it is recommended that iPhone users stay up to date on their software to keep their privacy and security intact.

      Apple sends out a notification when an update is rolled out on all compatible iPhone handsets, but users can also manually go and check for an update, and download it.

      How to Update iPhone Software?

      There are multiple ways to upgrade the software on your iPhone.

      Automatic your device updates automatically overnight while charging.

      NOTE :

      • It is important that you backup your data.
      • Connect your iPhone to a charger.
      • Ensure that your Wi-Fi connection is strong and protected.
      • Note that this needs Wi-Fi and cannot be done over a mobile data connection.

      Update iPhone Software Wirelessly

      Follow These Steps :

      1. Go to Settings
      2. Then General
      3. Then after Software Update.
      4. If a new update is available then details about the iOS update and its changelog will be mentioned.
      5. Click on Download and Install option.
      6. Your download will now start.
      7. When download is complete.
      8. Tap Install Now.
      9. You can also tap Later and choose Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. 
      10. If you tap Install Tonight then plug your device into power before you go to sleep.
      11. Your device will update automatically overnight.
      12. The iPhone may ask for your passcode/ password/ fingerprint before beginning the installation process.
      13. Enter the information and the installation process should begin.
      14. Once the installation process is done then iPhone will reboot.

      How to Turn on Automatic Updates in iPhone?

      If you are running on iOS 12 or later. The iPhone can also update automatically overnight while it is on charging.

      Follow These Steps :

      • Go to Settings
      • Then General
      • Then after Software Update
      • Click Customize Automatic Updates.
      • Turn on Install iOS Updates. 
      • Even after you turn this on, some updates might still need to be installed manually.

      Update iPhone Software Using your Computer

      If the wireless method doesn’t work then you can try to update using a computer. You will need a Wi-Fi or Ethernet network before you update.

      Follow These Steps :

      1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer via the charging cable.
      2. On a Mac with macOS Catalina 10.15 open Finder.
      3. On a Mac with macOS Mojave 10.14 or earlier, or on a PC, open iTunes.
      4. After the phone is loaded.
      5. Click Check for Update under General or Settings.
      6. Click Download and Update.
      7. Enter your passcode.
      8. Follow the on-screen instructions to guide you through the rest of the process.
