How to Upload Doc to DigiLocker

DigiLocker is a cloud storage service for government-issued documents by Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) with Digital India Corporation (DIC). DigiLocker uses your Aadhaar Card as identification and allows you to digitise your documents and make them available to you.

Digitised documents are consider original physical and are accept by railways, traffic police, and most recently, for passport services.

DigiLocker can have issued documents and uploaded documents.

Issued Documents

Issued documents are e-documents that have been issued by government agencies to an individual directly from the original source.

These documents are stored as URLs in the issued documents section.

Uploaded Documents

The uploaded documents are the ones that an individual uploads to a DigiLocker account.

These can include .pdf, .jpeg, and .png files that are below 10MB in size.

How To Upload Documents To DigiLocker by website?

Follow These Steps :

1. Go to the DigiLocker website.
2. Click on Sign Up.
3. Enter your full name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, email ID, and Aadhaar number.
4. Set a six-digit PIN that will act as your password.
5. Click on Submit.
6. An OTP will be sent to your register number.
7. Enter the OTP.
8. Click on Submit.
9. You will now be ask to enter a username.
10. Click on Submit.
11. DigiLocker homepage appears.
12. Click on Uploaded Documents.
13. Click on Upload.
14. Select the file you want to upload from your computer.
15. Click on Open.
16. These files will now be available in the Uploaded Documents section.

You can also select a document type for the uploaded files.

Select Doc Type option. Click on it and it will show a list of present document types that you can use such as electricity bill, dependency certificate, integrated certificate, identification certificate, and many more.

How to Upload Documents to DigiLocker by App

Follow These Steps :

1. Sign in to the DigiLocker App.
2. Click Here to download
3. Tap menu.
4. Select Upload Documents.
5. Tap on the upload button.
6. Give the app access to your files.
7. Select Files or Content from other apps.
8. Selecting ‘Files‘ from your phone’s storage.
9. Tap on Upload.
10. Content from other apps will open the default file browser of your phone.
