The eight IPL franchises are preparing for another auction a few months after the end of IPL 2020 with a big season looming ahead of another mega auction.
This mini auction has fewer slots to fill, but some interesting players up for grabs after retentions, trades, transfers and releases ahead of the auction.
IPL 2021 auction is being held in Chennai and all the 8 teams are looking to make some additions to their squad.
Punjab Kings had the biggest purse coming into the auction.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking for a add some more players in there kitty while Chennai Super Kings look to create a strong core.
Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will also look to make key additions to their group.
Today Rajasthan Royals who created history by paying the highest ever price for Chris Morris.
The auction started with former Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith being sold to Delhi Capitals for ₹2.2 crore.
Chennai Super Kings were in an comptitive bidding war with Royal Challengers Bangalore for the Australian but eventually RCB bought Maxwell for ₹14.25 crore.
Rajasthan Royals broke the bank and grab out ₹16.25 crore for Chris Morris.
This is the highest amount paid ever for any player in an IPL auction.
Australian paceman Jhye Richardson was picked up for ₹14 crore by Punjab Kings.
Krishnappa Gowtham was sold for ₹9.25 crore to Chennai Super Kings.
Two India veterans were picked up in accelerated auction.
KKR bought Harbhajan Singh for ₹2 crore while Kedar Jadhav was picked for the same amount by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
