      Indian Railway’s First ‘Pod Hotel’ At Mumbai Railway Station | Detailes Inside

      Ministry of Railways recently tweet and share a glimpse of the new pod hotel, which was inaugurate at Mumbai Central railway station. The Mumbai’s pod hotel is Indian Railways’ first pod hotel which was inaugurate at Mumbai Central railway station by Raosaheb Danve, the minister of state for railways.

      What is Pod Hotel?

      Pod hotels are also calls the capsule hotel which has a number of pods or small rooms with a single bed each.

      The pod hotel at Mumbai station has a mezzanine floor and i approximately 3000 square feet in size.

      Pod Hotel is located on the first floor of Mumbai Central Railway Station and contains 48 capsule-like rooms which include classic pods, private pods as well as separate pods for women and the differently-abled.

      The pod hotel offers a number of miniature bed-size capsules that will offer affordable stay to the travellers.

      The pod hotel is categorize into :

      • 30 classic pods,
      • 7 ladies only,
      • 10 private pods,
      • 1 for differently-able passengers.

      The new pod rooms at Mumbai Central are done up in mute shades of beige, brown, and white, as shown in the images.

      Pod Hotel have a single bed, a mirror and a personal safe, among other many amenities.

      The classic pods and ladies-only pods will comfortably accommodate one guest, the private pod will have private space within the room, and the pods for differently-abled will comfortably fit two guests and a wheelchair which can move around.

      Passengers can take advantage of all the modern amenities here at an affordable cost.

      Booking Details

      Passengers can book the pod hotel room for Rs. 999 for 12 hours and for Rs. 1,999 for 24 hours.

      Private pods have varying pricing.

      It costs Rs. 1,249 for 12 hours and Rs. 2,499 for 24 hours in a private pod.

      Booking pod also gives you access to free Wi-Fi, washrooms, and shower rooms in the hotel’s common area.

      Inside the hotel’s air-condition pod capsules, you’ll find televisions, mobile charging stations, reading lights, etc.

      India’s First Pod Hotel

      A private firm in Andheri was the first to introduce the concept of capsule hotels in India in 2017.

      But it is no longer working.

      The concept of pod hotels first originated in Japan, where the emphasis was on optimum use of space while providing travellers with affordable and chic accommodation.
