It is Mandatory for Vehicles 15-Years Or Older To Be Scrapped : Delhi Government

To keep in check the alarming pollution levels in Delhi NCR, the government has order mandatory scrapping of ELV (end-of-life vehicles). It applies to any vehicle that is to be more than 15 years old, irrespective of them being petrol and diesel.

If cars are find on the road, they will be stop and impound immediately.

The owner will be fine and their car will further be hand over to the license scrapper of the transport department.

The scrapper is to make arrangements to tow the car from the impound pit to the scrappage facility.

In case the scrapper is not available, the local police have the right to tow the vehicle to the pits, from where the scrapper will take it to the yard.

The car shall be tow and the owner will be fine.

The state-authorise scrappers will calculate the scrap car’s fair market value and pay it up front to the owner directly.

If there’s any dispute between the owner and the scrapper, it shall be taken up with the local police.

This comes in after the Delhi Government recently ban the entry of diesel/petrol commercial vehicles in the union territory.

Petrol cars older than 15 years and diesel cars older than 10 years were allow to ply on the roads if they pass their fitness tests.

If not, they had to be scrap.

To encourage this, the government roll out several initiatives to benefit the owners of the scrap vehicles.
