As soon as the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) announce that RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group has bag the Lucknow team for Indian Premier League, cricketers and cricket fans burst into celebration across UP. This is the first-ever IPL team for any city of India’s biggest state.
The Kolkata-base RPSG Ventures limited bought the team at Rs 7,090 crore.
RPSG’s winning bid for Lucknow made it the most expensive team in the IPL tournament.
The new teams are for the tournament to be played next year.
RPSG bid was more than four times of what Sahara had paid for the Pune franchise in 2010.
With Rs. 48,500 crores of asset base and consolidate revenue of Rs. 26,400 crores, the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group is among India’s fastest growing conglomerates with a significant global presence.
