Vrat Katha of Parsva Ekadashi
The legend of Parsva Parivarthini Ekadasi revolves around Vamana, the dwarf incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
The story begins with King Mahabali, a stubborn and arrogant demon king, who despite his authoritarian ways, was a devote follower of Lord Vishnu.
When Mahabali ousted Lord Indra from his kingdom, Indra sought Lord Vishnu’s help to reclaim his powers.
Disguising himself as a dwarf Brahmin, Vamana approach King Bali and request three steps of land as a gift.
Unaware of the dwarf’s true identity, the king agreed, and Vamana grew into a gigantic form, covering heaven and earth in just two steps.
Realising his mistake, King Bali humbly offered his head for the third step, acknowledging Vamana as Lord Vishnu.
The Lord then banish him to the netherworld, granting him salvation.
This legend highlights the importance of humility and devotion, teaching us that true strength lies in surrendering to the divine.
