Scientists Pumped Concrete Inside Abandoned Ant Colony and Find Megacity Inside The Earth | Details Inside

After many years of intensive studying, an engineer gets to go out in the field and work on structures that stand tall and tower civilizations, inhabiting millions. Even though we humans would declare ourselves as the only creatures on Earth who could possibly construct such mega-cities but we humans are not the only ones with such talent in Universe.

Scientists Find Mega City Inside Ant Hill

Scientists carried out experiments and research in the field to uncover a megacity beneath the surface of the Earth.

They found a secret city hidden in the ground that was construct by tiny ants.

The researchers discover the megacity by pumping 10 tons of cement into an abandoned ant hill for three consecutive days.

After weeks of careful digging, the band of scientists unearth a massive ant colony built beneath the earth.

The whole unboxing was capture in the documentary ‘Ants! Nature’s Secret Power’.

It is extremely fascinating to witness the structure unfold as the scientists dig up the soil deposite around it.

The viewers’ minds were completely blown away when they notice the intricacies of the underground network that the ants had created.

From the structure of the tunnels in the massive megacity, scientists determine that ants had move 40 tonnes of dirt to make the underground structure.

Above video also clarifies how these tunnels inside the structure are design to ensure thorough ventilation and reduce the ants’ transportation time by half.

But, their strength is not their only virtue; according to the Journal of Biomechanics, a group of researchers discover that the neck joint of a typical American field ant can withstand pressures up to 5,000 times its own weight.

Carlos Castro, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at The Ohio State University, said :

"Ants are impressive mechanical systems—astounding, really. Before we started, we made a somewhat conservative estimate that they might withstand 1,000 times their weight, and it turned out to be much more."
