Uttar Pradesh government has roll out a free laptop scheme for 22 lakh students of the state. All Class 10 and 12 students who are residents of Uttar Pradesh and pass their exams with good marks have a chance to get a brand new laptop.
The UP government has fix a budget of Rs 1,800 crore for this scheme.
This scheme was announce by Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath, with the aim of promoting the use of digital technology among students who are meritorious but do not have sufficient means to do so.
The criteria of selecting the students will be base upon the merit.
A merit list will be generate which will be base on which students who applly will be given the laptops.
The academic will organise a special event for the distribution of laptops.

Eligibility Criteria to apply for UP Free Laptop Yojana 2021
The official eligibility criteria has not been set by the higher authorities but it will be frame and announced soon.
Residential Eligibility
The student applying for the scheme, must be a permanent resident of the state of Uttar Pradesh. He or She should also possess a domicile supporting the same.
Educational Eligibility
The student applying is must have secure topper level marks in their 10th and 12th standard.
Qualifying Board
The student applying for the scheme should be a pass out of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Board.
Other Educational Requirements
In addition to the pre-matric and post-matric students, the government is also including the students studying under an ITI or a Polytechnic course program to apply for the scheme.
Percentage Requirements
The process to select the students who will get a laptop will entirely be base upon the merit generated.
This merit will include all the students who will apply for the scheme.
Base on that the high-ranking students will be given the laptops.
The general criteria will still be to score more than 65%- 70% marks in their last class.
