Who was the Most Powerful Warrior in the Epic ‘Ramayan’

Ramayana has a lot of great warriors like Shri Ram, Hanuman, Ravan, Bali, and Kumbhakarn. But in Ramayan, there was one warrior who was the most powerful of these.

      This mighty warrior was Meghnad.

Sage Agastya had told Shri Ram that Meghnad is the most powerful warrior of the war.

Let us tell you why sage Agastya had said this and at whose hands did Meghnad finally die.

      How was Meghnad named?

As it is said that when a son was born to Ravan, the sound of his crying was like the sound of lightning.

This was the reason why Ravan named his son Meghnad which means lightning in the clouds.

      How Powerful was Meghnad?

The greatest guru of the demons had recognize the warrior hidden inside Meghnath and teach him the tricks of war.

He also gave the knowledge of God’s weapons to Meghnad, which made him more powerful.

Meghnad was the only who had Pashupatrastra and Vaishnavastra including Brahmastra.

This is the reason that he alone was enough to take on the entire army of Shri Ram.

Ravan’s son Meghnad single-handedly defeat Lord Indra.

After defeating Indra then he took him hostage and brought him with him.

When Bhagwan Brahma came to know about this, he propose to give a boon to Meghnad to leave Indra.

Meghnad ask Bhagwan Brahma for a boon to remain immortal forever.

Bhagwan Brahma refuse this and gave him the boon that he will never be defeat in battle.

Bhagwan Brahma told Meghnad that no one will ever be able to defeat him in a war, but before every battle, he will have to perform a ‘yajna’ for Parthyangira Devi.

Brahma who name Meghnad as Indrajit.

During Ravan’s war with Shri Ram, after Kumbhakaran was kill, Meghnad creates a stir as soon as he step on the battlefield.

With his elusive weapons, he shook the entire army of Shri Rama.

From hri Ram to Hanuman, everyone fail to stop Meghnad from wreaking havoc.

The end of Meghnad in the war seem impossible to everyone.

      How was Meghnad killed?

Ravan’s brother Vibhishan told Shri Ram that when Meghnad performs Yajna, at that time he does not have any weapon and that this would be the right time to kill Meghnad.

This advice also did not work and Meghnad escaped.

Later he was annihilate on the battlefield at the hands of Lakshman.

Agastya Muni who had told Shri Ram that Indrajit or Meghnad was braver than Ravan.

He was kill at the hands of Lakshman and only he could kill him.

Lord Ram was very surprise to hear this which is when muni Agastya told him that while giving the boon, Bhagwan Brahma had told Meghnad that he could be kill only by a warrior who had not slept for 14 years.

Lakshman told him that he had not slept for 14 years during exile.

And Lakshman use to stay on guard throughout the night.

Lakshman had taken sleep under his control.

Bhagwan Brahma’s boon was probably only meant for Lakshman in whose hands the end of Meghnad was written.
