But the makes of Sooryavansham should say thanks to Set Max channel that people get to see ‘too much’ of this Bollywood drama.
What happened actually, in 1999 ‘Sooryavansham’ was release and at the same time, Set Max was also a new channel of Indian TV.
As per Sony Max’s marketing head, Sooryavansham purchase the rights of Set Max for 100 years!
This is the reason why ‘Sooryavansham’ and Set Max became the ‘Partners’ for Indian viewers.
Actress of the movie, Soundarya didn’t live to see her own film becoming a legacy.
She died in a plane crash in 2004.
After her death the Soundarya’s part was dubbed by Rekha.
Sooryavansham’s run on SET Max to end in 2024-25
Sooryanvansham is played most of the time on the TV channel, very often in close intervals.
As per reports, the run of Sooryavansham on SET Max is suppose to end in 2024-25.
But dispite of Sony Max’s purchase the rights of Sooryavansham for 100 years, Manish Shah, who won the telecast rights of the film in 2020, is not very keen on renewing his association with the channel.
Speaking to a leading entertainment portal, Manish Shah said :
“Sony Entertainment Television holds the satellite rights of Sooryavansham till 2024 or 2025. Once the rights lapse, I’ll play it on my YouTube channel, Goldmines Bollywood! I am not selling the rights to SET MAX again.”
Sooryavansham is a romantic musical drama direct by E. V. V. Satyanarayana.
It stars Amitabh Bachchan in double roles, with Soundarya, Jayasudha, Rachna Banerjee, Anupam Kher, and Kader Khan also playing important characters.
The film is a remake of the 1997 Tamil-language film Suryavamsam, and revolves around a traditional father and his illiterate yet obedient son, following their tense relationship and shows how the strict patriarchy causes a drift between them.
