Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction for players in the upcoming 2024 season was held in Mumbai. All five teams, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz participated in the event.
The auction has a total of 165 players go under the hammer, comprising 104 Indians and 61 overseas players.
And just 30 slots had to be fill across the five teams.
Players were categorise into five price slabs, Rs 50 lakh, Rs 40 lakh, Rs 30 lakh, Rs 20 lakh, and Rs 10 lakh.
Each franchise had a different purse remaining going into the auction and different slot requirements to meet as far as squad size is concern.
Teams can have a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 18 players, including six foreign players.
The 2nd season of Women’s Premier League is schedule to take place in February 2024.
Women’s Premier League 2024 auction threw some major surprises.
Uncapped Indian all-rounder Kashvee Gautam was rope in for Rs 2 crore by Gujarat Giants and uncapped India player Vrinda Dinesh went for Rs 1.30 crore to UP Warriorz.
Gujarat Giants pick Phoebe Litchfield for Rs 1 crore and Delhi Capitals takes Annabel Sutherland for Rs 2 crore.
Those were the four highest bids in the WPL 2024 auction.
Uncapped Indian allrounders were in great demand in the WPL 2024 auction.
All the franchises now have 18 players each.
