Bajaj Auto plans to introduce more affordable electric scooters under its Chetak brand to encourage the ongoing adoption of electric vehicles despite decreasing government subsidies.
As Bajaj is set to launch a new electric scooter targeting the mass market in May 2024.
Also, Bajaj Auto aims to expand its retail presence by threefold within the next few months.
As per the report, Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto said in a post-earning call :
“The product upgrade in the fourth quarter was very well accepted. We will be launching a new product by May.”
“We hope to attack the mass segment (with the new model). I cannot share the price, but it’s not going to be a premium offering”.

New coming Bajaj Chetak electric scooter model is expect to be equip with a smaller battery and a hub motor.
A test mule of the upcoming Chetak electric scooter was spot in 2023.
This test mule feature a hub-mount motor, suggesting that this new launch might be that particular model.
This new Chetak e-scooter is expect to be price reasonably and would be a more mass-appeal product.
Bajaj Auto currently retails two types of electric scooters under the Chetak brand, Chetak Urbane and Chetak Premium.
