      Meet Dr Saveera Parkash : A Pakistani Hindu To Contest General Election | Details Inside

      A medical doctor from the Hindu community, Dr Saveera Parkash is all set to become the first woman minority candidate in the general elections to be held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Buner district.

      She recently file her nomination for the PK-25 seat, as per report.

      Dr Saveera Parkash father, Oam Parkash is a retire doctor who has an active member of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for 35 years, as per report said.

      Saveera Parkash, who complete her MBBS in 2022 from Abbottabad International Medical College, serves as the PPP women wing general secretary in Buner.

      Quoting local politician Saleem Khan of the Qaumi Watan Party, Dr Saveera Parkash is the first woman from Buner to contest the general elections.

      Dr Saveera Parkash want to continue her father’s legacy, focusing on helping the poor and advocating for women’s rights and welfare.

      She submit her nomination papers on 23rd December 2023.

      Dr Saveera Parkash said it was the “senior leadership” of PPP that had request her father to let her contest the election.

      Saveera Parkash sees her medical career as a foundation for her dedication to public service, as she said she want to become an elected legislator after experiencing “poor management and helplessness in government hospitals as a doctor”.

      Dr Saveera Parkash said :

      “Serving humanity is in my blood,”. 

      Many Local social media person “wholeheartedly” endorse her candidature, and told “breaking stereotypes perpetuated by traditional patriarchy”.

      As many dont know that when Buner was integrate into Pakistan it took 55 years for a woman to emerge as an election candidate.

      The Election Commission of Pakistan mandates at least a 5% representation of women candidates on general seats.

      The elections are said to be held on 8th February 2024.

      In early december 2023, the Election Commission of Pakistan release the election schedule.
