Vice presidential polls are just complete and to elect the successor to M Venkaiah Naidu. And the winner is Jagdeep Dhankhar. Jagdeep Dhankhar got 528 votes while Margaret Alva got 182 votes. And the total numbers of vote which are cast today is 725.
Jagdeep Dhankhar will take the oath of office on 11th August 2022, which is a day after the term of the incumbent V-P M Venakish Naidu ends.
As expected Jagdeep Dhankhar has an easy win as the numbers may be stack in his favour.
Jagdeep Dhankhar is in an advantageous position with the support of many parties like Janta Dal (United), YSRCP, BSP, AIADMK and Shiv Sena.

About Jagdeep Dhankhar
- Jagdeep Dhankhar was born into a farmer’s Jaat family in a village in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu in 1951.
- After studying law at Rajasthan University, Jagdeep Dhankhar enroll as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Rajasthan in 1979.
- Jagdeep Dhankhar was designated as Senior Advocate of Judicature of Rajasthan High Court in 1990.
- He is also a former President of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association.
- Jagdeep Dhankhar was elected as a member of Parliament from the Jhunjhunu Lok Sabha constituency during 1989-91 in the 9th Lok Sabha representing Janata Dal.

Who can become Vice-President?
The minimum age limit to apply for the position of vice-president is 35 years.
The candidate should be Indian citizens and fulfil all of the requirements for membership in the Rajya Sabha.
A person is not also eligible to contest if he/she holds any office of profit under the Central government or states.
