The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), an organisation dedicate to propagating Sanatan Dharma worldwide, has ban one of its monks, Amogh Lila Das. Due to his controversial remarks about great philosopher Swami Vivekananda and his guru Ramakrishna Paramhansa during one of his recent ‘pravachans‘.
The Iskcon issue a press release said that Amogh Lila Prabhu has confess to having committed a mistake by making problematic remarks about Swami Vivekananda and his guru.
Amogh Lila Das would therefore cut himself off from all social life for one month as part of atonement, the press release stated.
Amogh Lila Das is a popular figure on social media.
His videos about religion and motivation are often found trending on various social media platforms.
Known for his quirky style of speaking, Amogh Lila Das was once an engineer working for a US-based company but left his job to seek spirituality.
Who is Amogh Lila Das?
There is very little information about Amogh Lila Das on the web.
But according to some of his video interviews on YouTube, Amogh Lila Das says he was born as Ashish Arora in a religious family in Lucknow.
As per Amogh Lila Das, he embark on spiritual journey at a very young age.
When he was in Class 12 in 2000, he left his house in search of God.
So, he decided to come back and pursue a degree in software engineering.
After completing his graduation in 2004, he start working for a US-based multinational corporation.
As per Amogh Lila Das, he held the position of project manager before deciding to leave the corporate world in 2010.
At the age of 29, Amogh Lila Das became a dedicate Hare Krishna Brahmachari (celibate) by joining Iskcon.
The engineer-turned-monk is follow by many people on social media.
Before being ban from Iskcon, Amogh Lila Das serve as the vice-president of the Iskcon temple in Delhi’s Dwarka.
Why did Iskon Ban Amogh Lila Das?
In one of his pravachans, Amogh Lila Das question the consumption of fish by Swami Vivekananda, said that a virtuous man would never consume anything that harms an animal.
Amogh Lila Das said :
“Will a virtuous man ever eat fish? A fish also feels pain, right? Will a virtuous man eat fish then?”
Amogh Lila Das said this while addressing a gathering of people.
He also took a dig at Swami Vivekananda’s guru, Ramakrishna Paramhans.
In its statement, Iskcon said it was pain by Amogh Lila Das’s “inappropriate and unacceptable comments and his lack of understanding about the great teachings of these two personalities“, said that he would be ban from Iskcon for a month’s period.
