Release Date of Windows 12
As per reports, Microsoft plans to release Windows 12 in 2024.
It would mark a return to the traditional release cycle of Windows, as major versions were launch every three or four years.
Free Upgrade to Windows 12
Microsoft has made Windows 10 and Windows 11 free upgrades for eligible devices, and we can expect they would not change there policy for Windows 12.
Microsoft has said that it will support Windows 11 until October 2025, which means you will still receive security updates and bug fixes until then.
You can choose to stay on Windows 11 if you prefer or upgrade to Windows 12 when it becomes available.
Expected Features of Windows 12
This is the most exciting aspect of any new version of Windows.
One of the most intriguing leaks we’ve seen is a screenshot of a prototype desktop interface that Microsoft show during its Ignite conference in October 2022.
The screenshot shows some significant changes from the current Windows 11 desktop :
- A floating taskbar that doesn’t span across the entire bottom edge of the screen
- A floating search box in the center of the top edge of the screen
- System icons (such as battery, network, and volume) on the top right corner of the screen
- The weather widget on the top left corner of the screen
These leaks suggest that Microsoft is experimenting with a more minimalist and modern design for Windows 12, which could also affect other user interface elements, such as the Start menu, the Action Center, and the File Explorer.
Other feature that could come to Windows 12 is AI integration throughout the operating system.
- Microsoft has investing heavily in AI and machine learning technologies.
- Windows 12 could use AI to learn your preferences and habits and customize your experience accordingly.
- Windows 12 could use AI to help you get things done faster and easier.
- Windows 12 could use AI to protect your device and data from threats and attacks.
These are some examples of how AI could enhance Windows 12.
NOTE : These requirements could change or vary depending on the edition of Windows 12 you want to install.
