      Asia Cup 2023 Schedule : Pakistan vs India set for 2nd September 2023 in Kandy in Asia Cup

      The Asia Cup 2023 is schedule to be held in Pakistan from 31st August to 17th September 2023. The tournament will be a 50-over ODI tournament, with all matches play at international standard venues.

      The 2023 Edition will feature two groups, with two teams from each group qualifying for the Super Four stage.

      The top two teams from the Super Four stage will then face off in the final.

      Seven-time champions India will face arch-rivals Pakistan on 2nd September 2023 in Kandy as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Jay Shah announce the match schedule for Asia Cup 2023.

      The six-nation tournament will be play in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from based on the hybrid model recently approve by the ACC.

      Pakistan will play Nepal in the tournament opener on 30th August 2023 in Multan.

      Team India, with 7 titles (6 ODI and 1 T20I), is the most successful team in the tournament follow by Sri Lanka with 6 titles to their name.

      The tournament will consist of a total of 13 matches.

      The format of the tournament involves the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super Four stage.

      The top two teams from Super Four stage will compete for a spot in the final.

      Starting from 2016, the Asia Cup has play alternatively in the ODI and T20I formats, aligning with the upcoming world events’ format.

      This edition of the Asia Cup will be play in the 50-overs format, serving as a preparation platform for five out of the six participating teams, excluding Nepal, ahead of the ODI World Cup, set to commence on 5th October 2023 in India.

      According to the schedule, irrespective of their position in the first round, Pakistan will be designate as A1, India as A2, Sri Lanka as B1, and Bangladesh as B2.

      In the scenario where Nepal and Afghanistan qualify for the Super Four stage, they will replace the teams that are eliminate from their respective groups.

      For Group A, either Pakistan or India will make way for Nepal and Afghanistan and in Group B, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be replace by these two teams.

      Pakistan are set to play India on 2nd September 2023 in Kandy in the 2023 Asia Cup, which is schedule to start on 30th August 2023, a day earlier than originally plan by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

      As per reports, tournament opener will be play in Multan with hosts Pakistan playing Nepal with the final schedule in Colombo on 17th September 2023.

      Those matches feature in the latest version of the draft schedule which is likely to see further changes before the ACC announces the final version.

      The original draft schedule, prepare by the PCB (the hosting board), has already undergone several iterations mainly because of the six-nation tournament being play in Pakistan and Sri Lanka based on the hybrid model approve by the ACC.

      Pakistan are in group with India and Nepal in Group A and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are in Group B.

      The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four stage with the top two teams in this phase advancing to the final.

      As per the original model, which was prepare by the PCB, Pakistan were meant to host four matches in just one city.

      Multan was adds as the second venue after a new PCB administration, under new chairman Zaka Ashraf, took over this month.

      In the draft schedule, Multan is schedule to host just the opening match with Lahore staging three matches and one Super Fours game.

      Bangladesh are slot to play Afghanistan on 3rd September 2023 in Lahore follow by Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan at the Gaddafi Stadium on 5th September 2023.

      The draft schedule also points out that regardless of where they finish in the first round, Pakistan will remain A1 and India A2 while Sri Lanka will be B1 and Bangladesh B2.

      In case Nepal and Afghanistan qualify for the Super Four stage, they will take the slot of the team knocked out (Pakistan or India in Group A and Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Group B).

      The only Super Fours match list in the draft schedule to be play in Pakistan is on 6th September 2023 between A1 and B2.

      In case both Pakistan and India advance to the Super Four stage, they will play again on 10th September 2023 in Kandy.

      Dambulla is the other Sri Lankan venue list to host three matches in the Super 4s stage.
