      Chhath Puja 2022 : Know the Relevance of Four Days of Devotion and Festivity

      The festival of Chhath Puja begins after Diwali on the Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha of the Kartik month. It is not a single-day festival but it lasts for complete four days as festival of Chhath Puja begins with a holy bath and ends with offering Arghya to the rising sun.

      Preparation for this puja starts before Diwali. 

      A ‘nirjala‘ fast is observe throughout, this is consider to be the most difficult fast.

      You can understand the importance of Chhath Puja from the fact that it is celebrate in many big and small cities of the country including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Mumbai. 

      Chhath is celebrate widely in various parts of India.

      It is a festival dedicated to the worship of the sun god, Lord Surya, and his wife Chhati Maiya, also refer to as Lord Usha.

      The fast is observe by both men and women across India.

      This year the days fall on 30th October, 2022.

      Women fast for 36 hours without a sip of water in a wish to get good health, success, and longevity for their offspring.

      Know About Four Days Drdicated to Chhath Puja

      First day of Chhath Puja (NAHAYE KHAYE)

      People observing this fast along with their family members are not allow to consume anything on the first day of Chhath.

      They need to take a holy bath and wear clean clothes before starting the fasting rituals.

      The bhog on the first day consists of gheeye,lauki ki sabzi, kaddoo chawal, and chana dal.

      Second day of Chhath Puja

      The second day focuses on prasad like kheer prepared with sathi rice and gur.

      There is a restriction on having fried foods.

      The prasad prepare is offer as bhog to the Lord Surya and goddess Chhati after the evening puja.

      After consuming the prasad, devotees start the three-day fast called Nirjala upwas, which is perform without the intake of food and water.

      Third Day of Chhath Puja (SANDHYA ARGHYA AND PEHLI ARGHAYA)

      The third day of the festival is base on the main prasad call as Thekua.

      Surya Arghya is perform by devotees on the nearby river banks.

      Prasad is prepare without salt, only with flour, jaggery, and ghee. Along with Thekua, various fruits are offer in the puja and continue for the third day.

      Fourth Day of Chhath Puja (PARAN DIN)

      The fourth day of Chhath is call as Paran Din, where worshippers observe a fast by providing Arghya to the rising sun.

      This is the last day of the fast where devotees conclude the fast by sharing Thekua and prasad.
