Battlegrounds Mobile India Is Sending User Data to Chinese Servers Linked to Tencent

PUBG Mobile’s Indian avatar Battlegrounds Mobile India is sending user data to a server in China as per report. PUBG Mobile was ban in India due to the developers’ Chinese involvement. The report said that data sent and received by the Battlegrounds Mobile India APK is from China Mobile Communications servers in Beijing.

The report finds that Battlegrounds Mobile India is sending the data to a Tencent-run Proxima Beta in Hong Kong, as well as Microsoft Azure servers in US, Mumbai, and Moscow.

This recent development seems to be contradictory to what was earlier promise.

Krafton wanted to work with the government of India to be compliant with local laws.

The Krafton even claim to cut ties with Tencent and removing the Chinese company as a publisher for PUBG Mobile.

Krafton announce Battlegrounds Mobile India said that the “privacy and security of Indian player data being a top priority.”

Battlegrounds Mobile India is now available on Early Access and 5 million plus downloads were done within a day of it going live.

The privacy policy of the game mentions that data is store in servers located in Singapore and India but it may transfer user data to other countries to operate the game service or to meet legal requirements.

The privacy policy page of Battlegrounds Mobile India States :

Krafton ‘”may transfer your data to other countries and/or regions to operate the game service and/or to meet legal requirements.

The legal basis for such processing is compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject to or are legitimate interests, such as exercise or defence of legal claims.”

Personal information will be stored and processed on servers located in India and Singapore, in the event that it has to transfer it to another country or region, Krafton will “take steps to ensure that your information receives the same level of protection as if it remained in India.”
