      Instagram Brings Back the Chronological News Feed With ‘Following’ and ‘Favourites’

      Instagram announce Favourites and Following, two chronological news feed options for users on the service. These feed options will allow users to view recent posts from accounts they follow on the platform, in the order that they were post.

      This service said that users will be able to easily switch between both Favourites and Following feeds and revert to the default Home feed that shows ranked posts and suggested posts, in a non-chronological order.

      Instagram, the Meta own service reveale that users who choose the Following feed will see posts from accounts that they follow on the service.

      These will be display in a chronological order, showing users the latest posts from their friends.

      The default Instagram ‘Home’ feed is design to show users rank posts in a non-chronological order, influence by a variety of factors including interaction with accounts, a user’s activity, information about the post, and the person who upload it.

      Instagram users will also have access to a new Favourites feed that allows users to see posts from specific accounts, such as their best friends or their favourite creators.

      You will be able to add up to 50 accounts that they follow to their Favourites list, which can be modified at a later stage.

      Instagram said that users will not be notified when you add and remove them from your Favourites list.

      While posts from these users will be display in chronological order, Instagram also reveale that these accounts will be shown higher when users switch back to the default, non-chronological Home feed.

      How to Switch to the New Following and Favourites feed?

      Follow These Steps :

      • Tap Instagram at the top left corner of the app on the Home feed.
      • Tap on either Following or Favourites.
      • Tapping Favourites for the first time will ask users add accounts to a list, by tapping the Add Favourites option.
      • Users can switch back to the ranked feed at any time by tapping on Following or Favourites at the top of the screen.
      • Select Home.

      Instagram initially offer a single stream of photos in chronological order when it was launch in 2010.

      As more users began to join the service, it became difficult for users to see all posts from people they followed, according to the company.

      In 2021, Instagram reveale that by 2016, users were missing 70% of all posts in their feed, prompting the development of a rank feed.
