Kinetic Luna, an iconic name from old days, is set to make a comeback in an electric avatar. The Kinetic Luna may launch very soon, as the company says that components like the chassis are already being construct.
As 80s kids may remember the iconic “Chal Meri Luna” ad.
With its 49cc two-stroke engine with pedal power for when the fuel ran out, the Luna was an affordable, low-maintenance mode of transport for college students and young professionals.
First launch in 1972 and it stay in production till the early 2000s, only being phase out due to tightening emissions norms.
Kinetic Luna EV will likely be position as a low-cost electric scooter along the lines of the Hero Electric Optima, with a 45kmph top speed, and approximately 100km range.
Kinetic Luna EV may also find use for B-to-B applications, for the numerous food delivery and online shopping platforms, or as a last-mile mobility solution within large-scale business complexes.
The Kinetic Luna’s rebirth in an electric avatar follows in the footsteps of another famous name, the Bajaj Chetak, and as such joins a list of revive names, such as the Jawa/Yezdi bikes and Vespa scooter.
