      Unselected Idols: A Glimpse into the Fate of Those Not Chosen for Ram Mandir’s ‘Pran Pratishtha’

      ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Ram lalla in Ayodhya was held on 22nd January 2024. The 51-inch idol of Ram lalla depicts him as a five-year old boy, and has been place inside sanctum sanctorum.

      Carve with three billion-year-old black stone, the idol was made by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj.

      But, it was not the only idol in consideration as a total of three idols were in competition.

      Now the two idols would be place elsewhere in the temple.

      The temple trust has said that both the idols will be enshrine within the temple precinct, as per report.

      One of the idols is white in colour and shows Ram Lalla holding a golden bow and arrow.

      Sculpted by Satyanarayan Pandey from Rajasthan, Ram lalla could be surround by an arch showing the many incarnations of Lord Vishnu.

      The idol is likely to be install on the first floor of the temple.

      It has made using white marble source from Makrana in Rajasthan, the place from where the marble for the Taj Mahal in use.

      It shows Lord Ram surround by an arch-like structure, and smaller sculptures depicting various incarnations of Lord Vishnu, like Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha and Kalki.

      The third idol is black in colour made by Ganesh Bhatt from Karnataka.

      The idol features Ram Lalla with Lord Surya on the crown, Surya chakra, and a lion on the idol.

      It has made from a unique stone call as Krishna Shila, which was source from Hegadadevana Kote in Mysuru.

      It depicts the innocence of the five-year-old Ram Lalla reflecting the traditional Indian style of carving.

      Bhagwan Surya on the crow symbolises the solar dynasty to which Lord Ram belonge.

      Surya chakra represents the power and glory of the sun god.

      The idol also has a lion and it signifies courage and strength.

      As Arun Yogiraj’s idol now graces the Ayodhya temple’s sanctum sanctorum, the alternate idols also radiate the divine energy and would be install in the temple premises.
