      UPDATE : WhatsApp Comes With Options to Mute, Message Specific Participants with New Privacy Controls

      WhatsApp has update its group voice calls experience on both Android and iOS. This update brings features to let users mute any other participants or message one of them while staying active on the call.

      These new update comes just days after WhatsApp expand group voice calls to up to 32 people from the earlier eight-participant limit.

      This update also introduces the option to let users message a specific participant while on the call.

      To get the option to mute or message a participant on the call, you need to press and hold the name card of that participant.

      The ability to mute someone on call is particularly helpful in case someone forgets to mute themselves.

      It could also be misuse to intentionally make a participant silent during a call.

      The participant can unmute themselves at any point of time by hitting the Unmute button.

      WhatsApp has add an indicator to inform participants when more people join large calls.

      It is quite an obvious addition as WhatsApp now has support for 32 participants in group voice calls, and it would be difficult to see when someone joins a group call that already has multiple participants.

      Users on Android and iOS would see three settings, EveryoneMy Contacts, and Nobody under the privacy settings for AboutLast Seen and Profile Photo.

      Now, a fourth option My Contacts Except… has add, allowing users to select some contacts from their address book and hide parts of their profile from them.

      The granular privacy controls can come in handy for WhatsApp users who have add contacts that they do not want to share their personal information with.

      Users would have to remove a person from their contacts to prevent their profile photo, last seen, and about from being shown to specific users, or block them, or set their visibility setting to “Nobody” in the settings.

      The new privacy setting lets users quickly create a ‘blacklist’ of sorts to hide sections of your profile from specific users.

      WhatsApp also announce that it was rolling out beta support for the ability to transfer chats from an Android smartphone to an iPhone.
