      Indian Premier League Franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore has appoint former Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batter Andy Flower as the new head coach of the franchise. The three-time losing finalists RCB part ways with former Indian all-rounder Sanjay Bangar and former New Zealand head coach Mike Hesson after the conclusion of IPL 2023, in which they fail to make it to the playoffs, and in a big development on 4th August 2023, confirm the appointment of Andy Flower as the new head coach.

      The 55-year-old Andy Flower serve as the head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 and 2023 but left the role last month to make way for former Australian opener and head coach Justin Langer.

      Under Andy Flower guidance, the Lucknow Super Giants manage to qualify for back-to-back IPL playoffs, but on both occasions, they got defeat in the eliminator clash.

      Andy Flower, who is the all-time leading run-getter for Zimbabwe in Tests and ODIs, had serve as the full-time team director of Englandโ€™s menโ€™s cricket team in the past and help them win the Ashes series and T20 World Cup 2010.

      He recently serve as a consultant within the Australian teamโ€™s coaching staff during the 2023 Ashes series, which finish 2-2 last week.

      Apart from his role with international sides, Andy Flower serve as the head coach of the St. Lucia Zouks in the CPL (2020), the Multan Sultans in the PSL (2021), and the Gulf Giants in the ILT20 (2023).

      The Virat Kohli-starrer RCB left former Team Director Mike Hesson and head coach Sanjay Bangar for their contributions in a Twitter post that read,

      "We thank Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar for their commendable work during their stints as Director of Cricket Operations and Head Coach of RCB. Their professionalism and work ethics have always been held in high regard. A number of youngsters were given a platform to learn and succeed in the last four years."
