      IIFA Awards 2022 : Check Full List of Winners

      The 22nd edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards was held in Abu Dhabi on the first weekend of June 2022 with the IIFA Rocks event, 3rd June, 2022 and the main awards night on, 4th June 2022.

      The 22nd International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards culminate with a star-studd weekend.

      It was a full house at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena on Yas Island as Bollywood celebrate Hindi cinema.

      Returning after a two-year gap due to Covid-19, the IIFA Awards was originally schedule for 19th to 21st May before being postpone following the death of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

      Vicky Kaushal and Kriti Sanon won the Best Actor and Best Actress trophies for their performances in Sardar Udham and Mimi respectively. 

      Sardar Udham also emerge as the top winner at the IIFA Rocks 2022 ceremony with three awards in the technical categories, including cinematography and editing.

      The annual ceremony that recognises the best technical talent in the Hindi film industry was held at the Etihad Arena, part of Yas Bay Waterfront on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

      Show of Bollywood celebrities, including Salman Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kriti Sanon, Ananya Panday, AR Rahman, Sara Ali Khan, Tiger Shroff, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Nora Fatehi, and Pankaj Tripathi attend the fesitival of hindi cinema.

      The show was host by Salman Khan, Manish Paul, and Riteish Deshmukh.

      The biopic Shershaah was award Best Picture, and director Vishnuvaradhan was award as Best Director for the same film.

      Main Awards of IIFA Awards 2022

      Shershaah, the biographical film based on Captain Vikram Batra, won Best Picture, while Vishnu Varadhan won the Best Director award for the film. Kaushal took home the Best Actor (Male) in a Leading Role for Shoojit Sircar’s Sardar Udham.

      Kriti Sanon won the Best Actor (Female) in a Leading Role for playing a surrogate in Mimi.

      Best Lyrics – Kausar Munir, ‘Lehra Do’ (83)

      Best Story Original – Anurag Basu, Ludo

      Shoojit Sircar-directed Sardar Udham took home the honours for best cinematography for Avik Mukhopadhayay, best editing for Chandrashekhar Prajapati and best special effects (Visuals) for NY VFXwaala, Edit FX Studios, Main Road Post Russia and Super8/ BOJP.

      It was follow by Aanand L Rai’s Atrangi Re, starring Dhanush, Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar, with two wins best choreography for Chaka Chak (Vijay Ganguly) and background score for AR Rahman.

      Other winners include Sidharth Malhotra-led Vikram Batra biopic Shershaah that bag the best screenplay award for Sandeep Shrivastava.

      Taapsee Pannu-starrer drama Thappad took the trophy for best dialogues for Anubhav Sinha and Mrunmayee Lagoo, and Ajay Devgn’s hit period action drama Tanhaji : The Unsung Warrior was adjudge the winner of best sound design for Lochan Kanvinde.

      Kabir Khan’s 83, a drama on the Indian cricket team’s 1983 World Cup win, won the best sound mixing award for Ajay Kumar PB and Manik Batra.

      IIFA Rocks, which also hosts a musical evening, was host by director Farah Khan and actor-singer Aparshakti Khurrana, who had the audience constantly in splits with their gags and punchlines.

      Musicians Tanishk Bagchi, Neha Kakkar, Honey Singh, Guru Randhawa, Dhvani Bhanushali, Zahrah S Khan, Asees Kaur and Ash King entertain the crowd at The Etihad Arena, which has a capacity of 18,000.

      The evening saw many Bollywood stars in attendance like Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Tiger Shroff and Ananya Panday among others.

      Being held for the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the funtion ceremony require mandatory RTPCR report and face masks at the entrance of the venue.

      Designer duo Falguni & Shane Peacock present their creations at the NEXA fashion show with actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Ananya as their showstoppers.

      The IIFA Awards are being held in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), and Miral.

      IIFA Awards are held annually every year with many artists and films nominate under various categories.

      Vicky Kaushal’s Sardar Udham topping the list with three awards in categories follow by Sara Ali Khan, Dhanush, and Akshay Kumar’s Atrangi Re bagging two Awards.

      Performances

      IIFA Awards 2022 was a star-studded as the stars grace the IIFA Green Carpet.

      The evening was made even more memorable as the stars took to the stage.

      Among the most-anticipate performances was Nora Fatehi’s dance medley.

      The Moroccan-Canadian actor also brought onstage six-year-old Kashvi Majmundar, her die-hard fan, to share the stage.

      Sara Ali Khan groove to Chaka Chak, while Ananya Pandey brought out the best of Gehraiyaan.

      Abhishek Bachchan also rock the stage with a show-stopping performance to his old numbers in the presence of wife Aishwarya and daughter Aradhya.

      The show end with Shahid Kapoor’s tribute to late music director Bappi Lahiri.

      The International Indian Film Academy Awards, IIFA 2022 has made a comeback after a long hiatus of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

      The 22nd edition of the show will be held in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

      IIFA 2022 kickstart on 3rd June 2022 and saw many notable faces of the Indian film fraternity in attendance at the star-studded event.

      The glamorous award show not only witnesses many celebrities performing on various songs but is also known for celebrating and honouring artists who have immensely contribute to the world of cinema.
