      India tour of South Africa: Suryakumar Yadav to Lead in T20Is and KL Rahul to Captain ODI | Details Inside

      Today Men’s Selection Committee met in New Delhi to pick Team India’s squad for the upcoming all-format tour of South Africa. The Indian team will participate in three T20Is, three ODIs and two Test matches.

      During the tour, India A will also play two four-day matches against South Africa A and one inter-squad three-day match.

      The Indian cricket team is set to start on a month-long tour of South Africa where they are schedule to play three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests.

      The tour gets underway from 10th December 2023 with the T20Is to be play in Durban, Gqeberha and Johannesburg.

      The focus will be on the shortest format considering the T20 world cup in 2024.

      After a couple of days rest, India will gear up for the ODIs from 17th December 2023 in Johannesburg.

      While the Test series gets underway on the Boxing Day in Centurion.

      Cape Town will host the second and final Test of the tour before the squad returns home.

      India Test Squad for South Africa Tour

      BCCI announce their Test squad for the 2-match series against South Africa.

      India captain Rohit Sharma is set to lead the side in the World Test Championship again and will be returning to play for the national team after a short break post-World Cup 2023.

      Jasprit Bumrah will be returning to the Test side for the first time since July 2022.

      Wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul will also be back in the team for the first time since February 2023.

      India have never won a Test series against India and BCCI have selected a well-balance squad to turn that around.

      The Test squad has shown a clear indication of moving on from the middle-order line-up, which had Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane.

      India have included Ruturaj Gaikwad for the first time in red-ball cricket.

      India have not made any changes to their spin department for the 2-match series with R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja set to continue.

      India ODIs Squad for South Africa Tour

      BCCI announce India’s ODI squad for the three-match series in South Africa with KL Rahul as captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

      KL Rahul was recently appoint as Rohit Sharma’s deputy after Hardik Pandya was rule out of the World Cup with an ankle injury.

      While Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli rest for the three-match ODI series, Shubman Gill will accompany Ishan Kihan as an opener.

      The middle-order boasts the likes of Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav, both of whom have deliver crucial performances in recent times.

      KL Rahul and Sanju Samson are designat as the wicketkeepers for this series.

      The all-rounders’ slots were fill by Washington Sundar and Axar Patel.

      Kuldeep Yadav will be the primary spinner with Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar will form the pace attack for the Indian team.

      India T20Is Squad for South Africa Tour

      Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rest from the white-ball leg of India’s tour of South Africa as the BCCI announce the T20I squad for a 3-match series from 10th December 2023.

      Suryakumar Yadav will lead the T20I team.

      Hardik Pandya is nursing an ankle injury he pick up in the recently conclude ODI World Cup.

      As it was speculated that Rohit Sharma would lead India in the T20I series in South Africa but the BCCI confirm in its release that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli request a break from the white-ball leg of the tour.

      While, Ravindra Jadeja has name as the vice-captain of the side.

      Kuldeep Yadav is back for the T20I series in South Africa.

      Deepak Chahar who was included late into the squad for Australia series retains his place while Mohammed Siraj is also back.

      Shubman Gill is also back after his break for the T20Is in South Africa.

      BCCI name Suryakumar Yadav as the captain of the T20I side for the ongoing 5-match series against Australia in India.

      Ruturaj Gaikwad was his deputy in the first 3 matches after which Shreyas Iyer was set to take over.
