Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announce Team India’s squad for the first two Tests against England. Mohammed Shami, Ishan Kishan and Shardul Thakur are not part of the 17-man squad.
The first two Test matches will be play in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, respectively.
Mohammed Shami has out of action due to an ankle injury and Ishan Kishan had ask for rest.
Dhruv Jurel has receive a maiden call-up for the series starting 25th January 2024.
Rohit Sharma will lead the side and Jasprit Bumrah has name as vice-captain.
BCCI said in a statement :
"The Men's Selection Committee announce India's squad for the first two Tests against England. India are set to play a 5-match Test series, the first of which will be held in Hyderabad from 25th January, 2024,".
Avesh Khan has also included to the squad, having part of the group for the second and final Test against South Africa.
As per a report, Prasidh Krishna is doubtful for the upcoming series, having pick up an injury during Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy match between Gujarat.
The report also said his availability for the last three Tests will be assess following an MRI scan.
Dhruv Jurel addition in the squad as third keeper comes following Ishan Kishan’s absence.
Ishan Kishan had pull out of the Test series against South Africa, and was not include in squad for the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan.
The first Test will be play in Hyderabad from 25th to 29th January 2024 and Vizag will host the second game between 2nd to 6th February 2024.
The remaining Tests will be play in Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala, respectively.
