After the emergence of the Indian Premier League (IPL), franchise T20 tournaments become famous around the world. Whether in Australia, the Caribbean, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka or England, now in South Africa. After a discontinue of Mzansi Super League and a Global T20 League which couldn’t take off, Cricket South Africa with renew hope has put in place SA20.
It was a blessing in disguise that all six teams were bought by the owners of IPL franchises, which gave marketing and the popularity of SA20 much need in its initial push.
Additions of international superstars such as Jos Buttler, Eoin Morgan, Sam Curran, Rashid Khan, Jason Holder, Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy among many others enhance the expectations further.
The SA20 League is set to get off to a cracker of a start with MI Cape Town led by Rashid Khan set to take on David Miller’s Paarl Royals.
Two star-studd teams with some of the best players of white-ball cricket will be up against each other as Graeme Smith (League Director), teams, players and most importantly fans hope for a fantastic tournament.
