Why India Should Not Open With duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in World Cup 2023 | RRD’s Opinion

As ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule is announced and everyone are already excited about the ten-team cricket big event. But India should at least have 2 left-handers in their starting XI ahead of ICC World Cup 2023.

I would like to emphasized that India won the 2011 World Cup under MS Dhoni with two main left-handers that provide variety to their Playing XI.

I also believes the management won’t capitalize on the current opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the crucial event.

As there is going to be a challenge as they will have to see closer to the event.

Also the Form of these batsman again becomes important.

Team need to strike the right balance at the right time.

Do you think a left-hander will make a difference at the top?

What I think it does not have to be opening, but in the top three or four.

Management have to look all those options.

As in the top six, I would like to see two left-handers.

If you remember the left-handed players like Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, and Gautam Gambhir all play crucial roles in the 2011 World Cup victory.

And if you talk about 1974 and 1979, Alvin Kallicharran, Roy Fredericks, Clive Lloyd.

The 1983 World Cup Winner team was the only one that did not have a left-hander, but that whole tournament was against all odds.

While in 1987, Australia had too many likes of Allan Border at the top, they had another two or three, down the order.

In 1996 Sri Lanka have the success with Sanath Jayasuriya, Arjuna Ranatunga and Asanka Gurusinha.

And then if we talk about Australia, with the Adam Gilchrists and Matthew Haydens and others.

Means Indian Cricket Team have to mix and balance has to be created.
