      Why South Africa is Wearing Pink Jersey Against India In The 1st ODI | Answer Inside

      India faces South Africa in the first ODI of the three-match series where batter Sai Sudharsan hit an unbeaten 55 as India defeat South Africa by 8 wickets in the first ODI at The Wanderers in Johannesburg.

      As India has not won an ODI match in Johannesburg since defeating the Proteas by 1 run on 15th January, 2011.

      Sudharsan hit 55 off just 43 and Shreyas Iyer score 52 off 45 balls as chase down a modest total of 117 in 16.4 overs.

      Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan share 9 wickets between them as India bowled South Africa out for 116.

      On a wicket offering pace and bounce to the fast bowlers, Avesh Khan return figures of 4 for 27 in his 8 overs and left-armer Arshdeep Singh had figures of 5 for 37 in 10 overs.

      As this series opener is schedule to take place at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

      The first ODI between India and South Africa is a pink ODI, which means that for this match, the hosts wear a pink jersey instead of their traditional green kit.

      The reason behind wearing a different kit is that it’s a part of the tradition of Pink Day ODIs, where the South African team showcases support for breast cancer awareness.

      Cricket South Africa has urge all its citizens to actively participate in this significant cause by wearing pink shirts, and the costs of the matches will go to support initiatives related to breast cancer.

      The South African men’s cricket team has played in 12 Pink ODIs including todays match so far and has won 9 of those matches.

      During the 2015 Pink ODI match, former South African skipper Ab de Villiers create history by scoring an ODI century against the West Indies in just 31 balls.
